After a few months, the band was completed with the addition of bassist Jordan Eberhardt. While attending M.I., Chris and Travis also attended a luthier course, where the duo learned to build their own custom guitars. At the end of 2006, Scale The Summit moved to Letchford's home town of Houston, Texas, where they released their self-released debut album, Monument. They slowly started to gain attention from magazines such as Kerrang, Rock Sound, and Amp. A couple years later, in 2009, they signed with Prosthetic Records and began working on their second album, Carving Desert Canyons. The release of this album was extremely successful, earning the band a spot on the 2008 Progressive Nation Tour with Dream Theater. After a couple more years of touring, the band settled in again in late 2010 to record their most third album, The Collective. In June of 2013, with Mark Michell now on bass, the band completed their latest album, The Migration. The band holds itself to a professional standard of musicianship, and this commitment to quality shines through with every adventure metal track they play. The Ocean Luc Hess, Robin Staps, Jonathan Nido, Louis Jucker, and Loic Rossetti. -From Berlin, Germany. -Five silhouettes, their backlist bodies moving frenetically in front of the huge LED lighting rigs, flashing synchronized to every little change in the music: watching The Ocean perform live is an experience. The videos, the lighting, and more than anything, the music- orchestral, dense, and epic- all contribute to that certain atmosphere that sets The Ocean apart from most of their peers in the realm of modern day heavy music. The lynch-esque play with darkness and dynamics make it easy for the listener to get lost in the dismal oceanic spheres. "Epic in scope and flawless in execution, 'Precambrian' reinforces the Ocean as one of the most exciting names in modern heavy music. Behold mind-blowing metal on a Wagnerian scale."- Rock Sound UK "Ambitious and epic, dense and orchestral, the latest album from Germany's premier thinking man's metal collective The Ocean features a dizzying array of musical and vocal styles, from Mastodonian prog jags and Fear Factory jackhammer blasts to ethereal electronics and florid classical instrumentations." - AMP The Atlas Moth Andrew, Alex, Daniel, David, and Stavros. -From Chicago, Illinois. -Fusing blues, doom, and psychedelic rock, the Atlas Moth look to their hometown of Chicago, Illinois for inspiration in their post-metal experiments. With layers of rumbling guitars and synthesizers, the band takes a more textural approach to metal, creating a maelstrom of heavy riffs and swirling atmospherics that evokes Isis and Pink Floyd in equal measure. The band made its full-length debut on Candlelight in 2009 with A Glorified Piece of Blue Sky, following up in 2011 with An Ache for the Distance, which was released on Profound Lore.- Gregory Heaney Silver Snakes Alex Estrada, Mike Trujillo, Jeremiah Bignell, and Daniel Pouliot. -From Los Angeles, California. -Pictures of a Floating World, Silver Snakes debut released in August of 2011, is a tribute to free thinking- focusing on societal themes and individuality. It showcases glimpses of rock experimentalists At the Drive In and Fugazi, both major influences on the Snakes' sound. The album touches on several genres, while not overstaying its welcome in any particular one. DJ Rob Metal - - |
